Hi all, please read the following and supprt us fisherpersons regarding this matter. Scotto

THE FUTURE OF THE GREAT SANDY MARINE PARK DEPENDS ON YOU!!!

The Government is about to finalize the Great Sandy Strait Marine Park legislation. The draft Plan proposed continued netting and trawling in the Great Sandy Strait while imposing serious restrictions on Recreational Anglers and other Marine Park users. Submissions made by recreational anglers and allied supporting groups have had an impact on the thinking of the legislators. Sunfish believes that at this time, it is essential to remind the Premier and all his Cabinet that there will be a lot of very angry people in the Wide Bay and Queensland who will not forget at the next election if they proceed to restrict line fishing anglers and other Marine Park Users, but allow continued destruction by netting and trawling.

Sunfish Fraser Coast request you do two things:

1.Send an email to the Premier and all his Cabinet Ministers advising them that you are concerned at the Governments attempt to discriminate against recreational anglers and other Marine Park users, and

2.Send this email on to as many friends as possible asking them to do the same, as well. Don’t worry if they are outside the Wide Bay area as the more you can get to make a submission the more impact it will have.

1.Send an email to the Premier and all his Cabinet Ministers by:

a. Open a new Email. Copying the email addresses below (Premier and Cabinet Members) into the address section [or the "To" section] of that email.

Premiers@ministerial.qld.gov.au; DeputyPremier@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Attorney@ministerial.qld.gov.au; CandDS@ministerial.qld.gov.au; ChildSafety@ministerial.qld.gov.au; DPI@ministerial.qld.gov.au; EducationAndArts@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Emergency@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Energy@ministerial.qld.gov.au; ETIR@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Health@ministerial.qld.gov.au; NRM@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Police@ministerial.qld.gov.au; PWHR@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Tourism@ministerial.qld.gov.au; Transport@ministerial.qld.gov.au; ELGPW@ministerial.qld.gov.au

b. Copy - Great Sandy Marine Park - into the subject box of the message;

c. Copy the following

“I am very concerned that the Qld Government will implement the Great Sandy Marine Park legislation allowing commercial netting and trawling to continue in the Great Sandy Strait, whilst placing restrictions on recreational anglers and other Marine Park users. I, and all of my friends, will be very angry if this is passed into legislation. STOP NETTING IN THE GREAT SANDY STRAIT!”

and paste into the body of the message;

d. Put your name and address at the bottom; And

e. Send the message

2. Forward this email on to as many friends as possible by opening a new Email and copying all of this message into the new message and send it to all your contacts. [This is preferable to simply forwarding, as repeatedly forwarded emails get very messy.]

Thank You

This netting is a disgrace, why must we as rec fisherman release all the big flatties we catch only to have them netted the next day. We actually fished a small bay in the classic were there were heaps of flatties the day before and when we went in the next day couldnt get a bite. We asked a guy on ahouseboat who had been there the day before if there had been any netters there through the night and he said yes, they had come in after dark and left early morning. In one net they had literally cleaned out that entire bay.
How do we stop this!

Done, and great work...obviously there was no "Public Consultation" on this one. I think Beattie's 20 odd seat majority is going to be needed at the next election. The way he is going he could blow the biggest majority in history.

Is there anyone else he can upset?

Yeah, it certainly makes a laughing stock out of the system when recreational fishers are encouraged to do the right thing and limit their impact on the environment only to see the 'professional' trawlers move over the same patch of ground and destroy fish habitat time and time again.
Doesn't make sense to me.
Regards Cameron.
