View Full Version : Nerang river surprise & thanks Scottygc

Well this is my first report as I haven't caught anything decent until now and even now it wasn't me but the wife.
Took Scottygc's advise. Put the boat in at Isle of Capri at 5pm(left $130 sandshoes on the ramp but when I got back some very honest fellow fisherman or woman had sat them beside my car. Thanks who ever you were :) :) ) and headed off up to the council chambers. Boats everywhere but found a spot and put the lines in then sat backfor 4 hrs with nothing. Then all of a sudden the missus starts screaming and winding like mad. Had to tell her to settle down but looking at her rod we knew she had something good on. GOt it to the boat and had no net so got it into the boat and just as we did it dropped onto the floor of the boat. Biggest fish the missus had ever caught and bigger than anything I have caught since being in Qld. So not going to hear the end of it now :( . Anyway thanks again to Scottygc for the tip and to ausfish for such an informative site [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]. Hope I get to report again soon.

good catch mate...was anything else caught..??? LOL lucky about the shoes...u may want 2 stick with 2.50 pluggers like myself :D

The bait used was chicken and nothing else was caught.

Yeah it must have been that motor shane and yes a net will be in the boat next trip. ;D

Hi Scotty......Used chicken as I never got a chance to get some livies but will try that next time. From what I could see not many others were catching anything and that was our only one for the night. But thanks again

Got him on a $39 Jarvis Walker combo from K-Mart.
Was near a pontoon and thats about all I can tell you as I don't have a sounder
