Ratman and myself headed out from Scarborough at around 3.00am for an early morning assault on the pelagics around Hutchies. We were greeted with a 20kn SSE,squalls and pretty average conditions :-X. We decided to head back inside the Bay for a bit of shelter. Hit Western Rocks for a solitary Sweetie and a couple of livies so we headed to M2 in search of Cobes. Ratman busted of on a good fish first drop then it was my turn to be smashed. I hooked up on something that ran hard on 24kg gear and was still doing what it wanted 25mins after hookup. Broke of after pushing the drag up a bit to try to make some ground :(
Headed further south and managed a just legal Squire that became involved in a tug of war with something much larger before finally hitting the boat. A Cod followed by an 11kg Cobe :) made up a reasonable catch but we certainly had to work for it :-X.
Cheers

We certainly worked for them. We used everything from high speed trolling to soft plastics.
It was my first real trip since a major knee reconstruction 5 months ago so it was nice to get a few.

One of the hardest things was getting good quality livies. They were few and far between on most of the usual haunts.

Oonya Horse, good to see you back into the fish. Its been a long time between drinks. Did I see correctly that you were a bit short of breath on that 'unknown' at M2. ;D ;D

Great Cobe Horse....I can appreciate the weather you punched through on the way out....we left clontaft at 4.30 for curtian and it was touch'n'go as to whether I'd continue. We headed back at about lunch time and it was dead flat though...

The weather improved a lot later in the day didn't it. It was not real good early in the day though.
BOM, Saebreeze and Bouyweather all got it A about T.

I was in complete control of the situation at all times and at least held my fish away from the beacon for more than 30 secs. Might have to get a bit fitter if I want to go the distance next time. I think I was fading faster than the fish after 25 mins on 24kg gear.
