Further to Smithy’s info about the Classic here is what I encountered, Fishing wise.
I decked on one of the other Riv’s. We had 3 guys on board 2 of which had never been fishing outside and the other who had done a little bit of offshore stuff. We headed up off the Pin where we had had some success last week. Put the lures out and did not see a thing for the first couple of hours.
We were trolling down a current line and then a nice black came up on the short but did not have a go at the lure. He did this three times charging in like he was going to smash but would then pull off cm’s before eating it. If I had of had a bait ready we would have had a shot but unfortunately he swam off without even touching the lure.
About 30min later the short corner went off again. All I saw was a flash and nothing was jumping so it was called for a Tuna or Wahoo. When it came to the boat it was a nice little Wahoo at around 8kgand a nice way to open up our account for the day.
Things went quite again but at around 1.00pm we had 2 rods screamed off simultaneously a couple of Mahi Mahi were carving up the surface. As they came close more fish were swimming with them so I quickly throw out one of the other lures and hooked up straight away. Unfortunately it dropped the lure soon after but we got 2 in the boat and both were around 9-10kg.
About 5min later we were on again this time with a slightly smaller fish but it was a good way to end a very nice day on the water.
