Late start on the water from about 7:30. Picked up two legals squire biggest going 41 amongst another half dozen 30 somethings and a flathead going 61cm. What size Do flathead normally become females and when do they breed. This one was full of eggs (if i'd known we'd have chucked it back) i thought that they breed from september till october? Anyway a couple of pics.

Got out earlier this morning at about 5ish. peel fished well for till about 7 with around 20-25 fish(including a good cod around 50/60cm that was released) coming aboard a few legals in them aswell. Moved to harries but it was dead so motored up to the beacons which was also dead. Found some bait working on th surface so in with the jig and up comes a combination of slimies and herring. Went back to harries with some nice fresh bait as a change to the plastics and hauled up another 20 odd fish with another few legals coming in. Ended up with 4 squire and a sweet lip in the esky with another few squire right on 35 getting thrown back. Big variety of fish taken on plastics, slugs and bait, catch included a trevally, a shovelnose, a maori cod, 4 moses perch, 3 estuary cod, 2 sweet lip and countless squire. We also hooked up on sharks and occasionally got bitten off by schoolies. Nearly out of pearl watermelon plastics now which is a shame because its one of the few colours that gets any attention.

I would love to see an accurate answer to this question, nothing worse than thinking you're doing the right thing and getting home and finding your catch full of eggs. Flathead have always been one of my favorite catches. Any info would be appreciated. :)
