:-? A friend and myself are going to Moreton Island for 5 days from Feb 5 to 10. We have never fished off Moretons' surf side, or the rocks there. Has anyone got any tips as to where's good, what bait or lure and most importantly.....what sort of fish we'll be tackling?

The basic's are the norm on Moreton. Bream, Tarwhine, Dart, Whiting, Flatties, Tailor, Jewies and whatever else shows up. Feb is not optimal for Tailor but they can show up late as Chrissie choppers maybe. Try beach worms rigged on a light trace with enough lead to get it out but not too much to make it look unnatural. Pippes are also good if you can't catch worms and pillies for the Tailor on ganged 4/0 or 3/0 hooks work well. Off the stones try flesh baits or cut pilles with a 4/0 on a slightly heavier trace, maybe 15-20lb and see what you can pick up. There are sweeites, jew, trevors and kingies to be had but depends how keen you are. Pick the tides, right gutter and you'll catch something.

thanks for the tips. hopefully catch a few. ;).should be a good week anyway, although a couple of the fish mentioned before would make it better!!! where is a good site for checking out tidal times?
Caught up in Redland Bay .
