Hi there Ausfishers & Guests, Steven78 and myself in 2 boats headed out at the crack of dawn from Redlands ramp to try our luck with the plastics at Macleay Island.
Not my usual haunt but this area has great structure and at times holds a few good fish.
With the strong S/E winds today this location is somewhat protected.
The fishing this morning was very quiet but with a huge high tide i can imagine all the fish searching out food in the mangroves etc.
Steven managed himself a feed of 2 nice squire around the 40cm mark and i did battle with a 52cm speciemen.
Gee this fish had some power going for several long runs before entering the net.
I took my time playing out this fish as i was using 8 lb leader.
Pumpkin seed gulps sure work a treat but boy do they smell.!!!
Other fish caught were sand flathead and grass sweetlip.
Not the best day to go fishing but hey we had some fun and managed a small feed.
Cheers Brent :)

Foggy it was very lumpy on the way back to the ramp and we had a free cold shower. I was using ZOOM's super fluke in watermelon which did all the damage. Jim and I had a lot of problems drifting so we where always on the move :(. Half of Brisbane wanted to join us for Breakfast. Oh well this spot must of been popular. Thanks Jim for the company as I always enjoy having you aboard. It was a costly day out because I used a packet of 1/8 jig heads.

The worst day fishing is still better been your best day working.

Hi Graham, Mate conditions were not too bad early but by mid morning the breeze picked up to 20 knots+ at times.
After high tide we were drifting all over the place and i noticed Steven put out a sea anchor but was still moving along at a trolling speed.
When we arrived in the morning there were 2 boats and by 7am it was like Queen street mall.
Hope to see ya at Mud next weekend weather permitting.
Cheers Brent ;)

Nice work (again) Brent. After I called you, I spent a bit of time in the lee of Raby Bay, but it wasn't productive at all. One small squire early, but no keepers today.

Graham Foggy?? I remember that name!! Where have you been mate?

Sounds like a bit of fun. Keep at it, by the sound of the conditions you fished through you deserved better. I reckon you'll be rewarded next time.
Cheers

Well there you go,

52cm is a good fish Brent, better than I did on the NW tip of Mud Sat which was similar conditions. Steven78, might be time to start modifying yer 'ol sinker moulds to make your favourite sizes of Jig heads... ;) Going through that many has gotta hurt!

Well done guys!
