After an early start... hit the roaad at 2:45 in brisbane, we reached noosa probably a bit late and after sunrise. However we headed out with a fair amount of optimism. About 3rd cast i had a ncie hit, so danny_shep casts to the same spot and wammo in comes a nice trev. WEll after i dropped one, and 2 more reached the boat i was starting to get verya nnoyed at myself. WE saw a huge amount of surface action further down the river so we motored down where there were some absoutely huge GT's smashing the herring on the surface. WE were all cranking our softies through them, and once again i hook up. Only to drop it again! 2 casts later and i hooked an absoultely moster, with the line peeling off, only to drop that one too! Now i was almost crying. Finally got a solid hook up.... it was an epic fight.... of about 10 seconds - 20 cm bream WOOHOOO. DAnny_shep also got busted off by a big trev around a pontoon. HEaded back up the river, and as we were motoring along i saw a splash on the surface, noone noticed but i jsut flung my lure out near it as we were still going along and after two twitches i was slammed> Haha finally the fish stayed hooked and in came another nice trev. A grunter and a few small flatties later we ehaded out to the sandbanks near the fry pan. Caught a few nice bream and flatties and then fianlly had to ehad off ome. WAs a good trip and cant wait to get into them again. The trevs go so damn hard on the 4lb gear!!! Softies used were the 3" berkley bass minnows in pearl blue and watermelon mainly, and the new realisticks... damn good lures!!!
Cheers

Bo_D_, mate around these warmer months there tends to be alot fo surface action from the trevs and tailor and queenies etc, so jsut using a small soft palstics and a fast and ereatic retrieve near the surcace seems to produce the goods. In the winter months weve found the fish tend to hand deeper so jsut using a slow retreieve seems to produce. LAst year a amte caught plenty of trevs and a couple of jewwies at noosa. AHve a look around woods bay in particular and you should do well. Cheers

Best fish ever, the amount of power such moderate sized fish can produce is jsut phenomenal.

Trevs can be almost a pest sometimes when queenies and such are firing. The queenies put up such an acrobatic fight, almost as good as a tarpon. But when nothing else is on the chew the trevors are great fun especially when they're in the mood to smack poppers. Went out his morning could barely raise a scale, we got one small GT on a softie and I dropped a trev, got a few hits and a half decent estuary cod all on a popper.
I had an epic session christmas eve night, landbased by chance, what we thought were trevs turned out to be hordes of big hungry tarpon! wouldn't take a popper but were chewing down big plastics with 3/0 tt heads! unbelievable fights on 6lb, initial runs were so fast resulting in massive airtime. 2hrs non-stop hits basically every cast, there were some solid sized GT's and bigeyes thrown in but the tarpon outnumbered them. went back a few more times but never saw them again.....
Jackash, i could tell ya where, but then i'd have ta kill ya! Nah no particular spots, just all round the lower reaches, look for bait getting smashed. it just wasn't happening this morning...

yeh was an awesome session.. and well deserved after a pretty solid effort of paddling for 2 hrs at 3am on kayaks way up from weiba creep in the attempt to catch asho, fritzy and tshep on the water. Am a BIG fan of the berkley Realistix in pearl blue, Missed some thumpers all on them- amazing what a bit of glue and a plastic eye can do to a lure. Definately wont be forgetin the camera again.
cheers, danny shep
