An interesting tidbit I found in Friday's QT is attached (in 2 scans to make the 100kB limit!). Apparently some dude caught a Grey Nurse, at Goodna, in his crab pot. However, his "evidence" is a photo taken looking at the top of the fish, which really doesn't tell me anything!

For my 2 bobs worth, I'd say its a bullie, but what do other Ausfishers think?

Yep, bull shark its head is fat & round also grey nurse tend to love clean water & frequent reefy areas.
Also if its a nurse he is holding & its dead, he's in big trouble with the fisheries, as they are protected.
cheers

good points there toppy, and judging by the backround, he sure isn't still in his boat checking his crab pots!

if that was genuinely a news article the editor is obviously seeking to construct a paper based on tabloid rubbish

34 secs on google images found an answer ....

not only the nose but the two dorsal fins on a nurse are almost of equal size & match the top of the tail - that shark has a dominant dorsal

Just in case shouldn't we close all of the River and surrounding areas to rec fishing ;) ;D ;)

Chris is spot on. The grey nurse is unmistakable even discounting the snout. The fact that the dorsal fins are small and of the same size singles it out from other sharks.

good work guys! (love the "real" nurse pic) I knew they had distinctive teeth (being predominately a fish eater), but I wasn't sure how to ID it from the crappy photo! cheers!
