Headed our early from Bribie this morning. Dodged a couple of rain showers on the way out and spent the next couple of hours chasing the birds. Didn't manage to hook up anything throwing slugs but got a couple of schoolies on floated pillies near the M4 beacon. Also brought in a 1m bronze whaler, that was fun...

We were watching the squals develop and move over the bay. We saw the one below coming over cape moreton at about 10am and decided to get the hell out of there. It was absolutely black underneath.

I was there too.

Turned and ran when that started to churn the water.

Felt a little eerie when it started to get real close and all went green just like your pics show

We were also desperatey seeking macka along Spitfire channel without success despite tipping in 15litres of quality pilly&tuna mix - those conditions were so variable - wind gusts 06knots to 21knots & back again - and how about that swell - should've stayed in bed

damn thing glassed out in the afternoon >:(

We were out at Hendersons off Moreton and got caught in em all. Apart from a hell of a lot of water there really was no wind to speak of. SPB was lumpy and a lots of short north east chop at 5.30am but conditions were ok outside with a big rolling swell of about 2m.

It just goes to show how variable conditions were yesterday.

we also had a similiar idea on Sunday, put in from Bribie early only to get absolutely drenched from the rain, and dissapointed with the fishing. Plenty of small jellybean mac tuna just north of the M3/M4 in the north east channel, and some larger longtails out on the spitfire banks, but couldn't get close enough to them to cast. We hooked two jellybeans, but hooks pulled on both.

No sign of any mackeral... :-/

Rain was unbelievable!

We were there as well, and we decided to wait it out and see what happened. We anchored near the beach at Cowan and nothing happened. The big black cloud kept going west towards Redcliffe and we only had light rain for about 45mins.

After that the sun came out and the bay glassed out. The wind meter on top of the M1 in the Spitfire Channell was hardly moving at 1.00pm! It turned into a fantastic arvo on the Bay which got better as the day went on.

Got a few schoolies around the beacons and ran home to Manly doing 55km/h all the way on a very calm bay. A great afternoon!

Had planned the day on the bay, glad I went with my missus's suggestion to stay home and work around the yard.

Yeah, I was at curtin at that time. Saw that bugger coming but as it got nearer it got paler. glad it dumped on somewhere else and not on us :D Got a heavy shower for about 15 minutes but that was about it. Planned on making for Tangas if it went worse, rather than try to outrun it......a judgement call that you stand or fall by I suppose. As it turned out, I didn't have to make that call.......I'd hate to make the wrong one :-[

Turned out to be a cracker for the rest of the day.......weatherwise that is.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colours. But they all have to learn to live in the same box.

Kev, we actually thought about riding it out on Moreton, but I'm not set up for overnighters and wasn't sure what might be on the other side - nice and calm, or ugly. We decided to head back in just in case.

Just as we were packing up at the ramp the sun came out, the wind dropped and pumicestone suddenly looked nice and calm. Oh well, always another day...

Mate, I've got 60 ponies pushing me along now, but more is always better !!!
