Onya Big Unit, how far south of Kingfisher did you travel. Did you see any schools of Mackerel around.

Left the Urangan Harbour at 6.00am this morning in absolute glass conditions headed straight for the bait grounds with the idea of chasing up some Reefies. We arrived at the bait grounds at the same time as Silver Lady charters collected some Scads, Herring & Pike. Shot straight to Duck Island area and fished a while, managed a small Cobia, some undersized Sweetlip, Tuskies & Cod. Moved to some new ground for some Squid, which Danny landed 3 good sized Squid in the well whilst I dropped livies out for some snip off's and a couple of big runs which I failed to hook up. Troy arrived in his new rig, I leave it to him to add his part. Headed over to Kingfisher for a feed. After lunch the wind picked up slightly and the sky remained overcast with patches of sun that had some bite. Trolled around a little while which resulted in nothing other than spotting a Dugong Cow with a very small Calf, its great to see these creatures are around and breeding. Things were very quiet at the top end of the Straits so we decided to fuel up at Kingfisher and head further down the Straits to some country I know pretty well, it payed off bigtime. We landed Estuary Cod, Scarlets, Sweetlip, Moses Perch and Sharks, amongst the other unstoppables.

All in all it was a very good day, all fish were released except for a Scarlet and 3 Cod.

Cheers
James

Small Cobia, released to fight another day. Note the terrible conditions.

Weather was awesome for one day, its now back to a severe storm warning for our region. I dont know exactly how much rain we got, I guess it was over 4 inches though. Heaps of fresh, the prawns & crabs are starting to fire up pretty well.

Cheers
James

Didnt see any Macks around.

We always work hard.

Bait grounds, hmmm we found them quickly because we spotted the charter boats sitting on them otherwise we would have had to sound them out.

Cheers
James
