Very , very quiet morning for me and the boy this morning , in fact pulled the pin about 9 am. after chasing a school of longtail around for a while, got into a few great positions and worked slugs but just couldn't connect. they were certainly on the move and it also looked to have been some decent size fish in the school for this part of the bay. anyway we went to fish the reef behind green about 5.30 am.. but it was very quiet for us . see a few faces out there ,any one do any good?
the only decent fish went to the boy on a pumpkinseed 3 inch grub . I hope you had better luck than us.

You have been putting in the hours this week Chief. Is the water still brackish?

G/day Lonewolf, mate the water was pretty clear , you could probably see your plastic about4 1/2 to 5 feet down. Just a slight cloudiness to the water . Truck loads of baitfish , it just had that feel that later a few pelegics might turn up for some fun and games but then it also looked as if that southerly was going to pick up but we left early.

We hit Wello and Grren Saturday morning.
Launched at 4.30 and worked Wello until the Sun came up. Wello fired, and we had 7 keepers between 3 of us by 6.30am. Hamish landed 2 fish of around 50, and the rest were betwen 36 and 44.
Then shot over to our spot at Green and caught fish constantly until hightide around 8am. Once it swung, the fish shut down. Back at the ramp around 9.30 with 12 keepers and probably 30 throwbacks.
Wasgreat to see Wello produce again after being quite for so long, and the area we fish at Green is just awesome. Everytime we have been there we have caught fish.

Beefa,
What sort of boat are you in? We seem to cross paths often, especially last Saturday morning.
We got a few smallish specimens at Green's East side and we noticed quite a few boats up off the north east point. Like you, we went to Wello (south) and only had one reasonable keeper.

In a 4.2 metre Stessco Catcher. We fish the bottom of Green, not up were all the other boats go. No need to go that far ;)
We have a few spots at Wello, that when on, really fire on daybreak. Up towards the beacon, but not down the main channel.
We have fished Wello for a few years now, and really have it sussed. Lots of boats there on Saturday (until the wind got up) along the reef edge.
Grre nwe have only tried about four or five times. Mike did some chart work ,and we have hit the jackpot on where to do and when. Always great when plans come together :)

The south east side is where we have caught fish for the last two months. Big flathead, squire, sweetlip, there were even squid attacking our SP's on Saturday.

We always use SP's. Anything Gulp in Pumpkinseed works a treat, and watermelon isnt too bad either...minnows, fry's, turtlebacks, shaky shads, it really doesnt matter.....and in low light conditions we have been using whites and I started using Blacks for some good results too.
Bass Minnows, Zooms and Assassins get some fish as well, but the Gulps have been outfishing them 3 to 1 for the last few months.....but shhhhh!! ;)

End of the month does look quite good for a trip or three ;)
Right on sun up is the best time for Wello, and Green seems a bit later. Works out well actually. Have a flick at Wello on the way to Green, gee it is hard work ;D
The Gulps just amaze me, fish just love them. Pumpkinseed is definately the color for the bay at the moment, sometimes it is watermelon...then there is white for low light periods...and now I have started using black as well......Ahhhhhhh, another hit and run on the tackleshop is in order!! :D
