Well I had big plans to get down thecreek, had heard that the crabs were running (uncle got 14 bucks in 6 pots) and the jacks were biting as well but the trip got canned last minute.

So headed down the beach on sat with next door neighbour to walk a few pots in and have a drag of the net. Had a drag couldnt get anything to eat (heaps of mullet) when I noticed a lone old guy pulling in the whiting one after another. Went and spoke to him and he told me that the whiting actually go under the sand when the net goes over and thats why I wasnt catching them.

Anyway thought I give it a go with the rod the next day. Went an dug a few earth worms and grabbed the missus and hit up the same spot. Well they were fierce and bit hard for about an hour. Between the wife and myself we caught over 40 whiting and took home 18 of the best all well over 30cm. The biggest was 37cm caught by the white. PIcture dosnt show actual size well but I tell you what it was a great afternoon. Good feed to, plan to get back down tommorrow and get back into em apparantly they bite well right up to the end of easter up here.

Yeah used to fish with earthworms in Tully for whiting when I was a kid. Bloke next to me was using fresh yabbies and I outfished him.

Well went back down today (your going to love this coxy) every wednesday I get to take school students fishing for 3 hours as a subject. Took em back to the same spot with the same bait and caught nothing for 2 hours. My reputation was almost gone when all of a sudden they came on the chew hard right on the bottom of the tide.

I caught myself 16 whiting in 10 minutes all around the 25cm and bewteen the kids Id say we caught over 60. All fshed were released except for the snodgers over 35 which I took home and just finishing cooking on the bbq. Not a bad way to spend the day
