Headed out Sat lunch to a mixed up bay with 15+ s/westers
Worked some Tuskies spots with crabs which yielded 2 x 2kg and dropped a nice grass tuskies at the boat.
Then moved to the bank drop offs and drifted with a mixed of baits/lures and plastics
for flathead/squire/cod and morwong which was released.
Then the mack tuna moved in around the boat, but threw everything but the outboard at them for nil results, their was bait fish going off everywhere but all mack tuna chasing them.
Meet up with Crestcutter/Longtail and Skippa, who headed off in different directions to do their thing.
Bumped into them again at dusk around Myora, but when the gale force s/westers came in, they headed towards Peel and we took shelter up in Myora.
Moved out on the high around midnite and scored a couple more squire, then anchored till 5am.
Tried lifting the anchor, but stuck fast, gunned the motor till the bow vertuially went under, and with two of us lifting pull my anchor up to find this huge chain caught up, tied it off to the bow and pulled my anchor apart to untangle, then dropped the chain still attached to something below back to the depths.
Went north towards Amity, looking for some surface action, but dead quiet, also bumped into Rakinray heading to the Group.
Trolled for awhile but still naught so headed home.
Thanks to Matthill for introducing me to these Jackals, only brought one at 25 a pop, but it scored more fish in one session then my limited attached with plastics, all released except for 1 squire/lizard and cod.
But i also came home minus the Prize Jackal, had this nice Gold spot again next to the boat, but being impaitent tried lifting onboard by the leader, resulting in one Gold Spot + Jackal still in mouth swimming back to the depths, those trebles on the rear certainly do the damage, where as a lot of plastics lose the tail when hit and no hookup.
Will certainly be investing in a couple this time.
regards
If your wondering why i cut short my talk with Nugget, my deckie put my boat onto the weed beds, then reversed out to wrapped two lines around the prop :-[

Nice mixed bag there Webby. The Tuskies are great fish. I will be giving them a go at Easter hopefully.

Those Jackals seem to work well but I would get too nervous tying on a $25.00 lure and sending it down where Cod etc live. I can easily go through a couple of packets of jig heads in some places.

Cheers

Nice haul there Brian,

Ya looked busy when I went past so I thought I'd investigate some ground just south of you, interesting area which deserves more of my time. Ended back up Myora which turned into a car park in no time flat so darted over to a quite area of mine at Peel to spend the nite. Called it quits after catching what seemed every undersize squire at Peel .... I guess thats fishing tho.

Sounds like Colin has had driving lessons from Dazza .... If ya looking for an Experienced 'no drive over the lines type' deckie you've got my number ;) (sorry Colin)

BTW, took home a coupla 35/38 Flatties, no pics batteries at home (quiet Brett) and now their fillets for Maryanne.

Sun turned out to be a beaut 'boating day' all the same...

Cheers,
Tony 8-)

Yeppers started off nice weather, then turned into i cant get to sleep bugger this i'm outta here. Wife was real impressed waking her up asking her to bring the car and trailer down to the ramp at 2 am to get me. :-/ ;D

Also impressed with Brians willingness to put me onto his areas that produce fish , the guy, and i dont blow wind up anyones backside , is as ugly as Wayne Bennet ;D ;D but will share his knowledge openly with you, and because of this i did boat fish in places i wouldn't normally fish.

So thanks Brain.....

Col i dont know how ya put up with him mate.

Ps, i'm surprised we caught anything Brian with all that oil in the Rainbow. ::) ;D
