Went for the weekend to fish the estuaries around Crab Claw Is. outside of Darwin.
Had bad luck with the weather as the wet season is late and after setting out on Sat. it started to pour. Fished non stop for 2 days trying every spot conceivable but the fresh was just too abundant to do any good . All the little creeks were flooding with water. All the other guys fishing the area had the same report.
Got some good fingermark or "golden snapper " as they are called there in the deeper water in the bay but nothing huge. Plenty of sharks and small jewies. A beautiful spot with so many areas to fish it is mind boggling. Will surely be back another day. My son Chad had an absolute ball casting lures around and actually caught a small cod in the estuary (the first fish caught on the trip ). One of the few we picked up in the creeks.
Cheers
Brad.
