Logan River 9-4-06

Hit the logan yesterday arvo with Rich,

Fishing was slow until we hit a purple patch right on sundown. In the space of around 20mins we boated four fish all using 3" Gulp Rainbow shads on 1/8th 1/0 jigs.

We managed 1 bream (32cm) and 3 flathead (50, 53 and 64cm).

The big flathead put on a real fight - every time we went for the net it'd see it and go for another run, I think we must have netted it on the 6th attempt or so - it was stressful watching this unfold as I only had on a 8lb leader.

Also put out 2 pots and got 4 muddies - all undersize - I'm really starting to think that the entrances to my pots are too small.

Its really prawn central there at the moment - especially near the river mouth - will definitely be chasing some over the coming long weekend.

when you say it is "prawn central" is that beacuse of the number of guys throwing nets?

I saw a heap of people prawning near the hut, but there was no one near the rivermouth, which is where i saw most of the prawns.

On my way back to the boatramp, I also saw 3 prawn trawlers netting all round the hut area.

no, I actually read your post after I got back :( , but at least I got onto a few yesterday - despite them being too small.

I'll try your spot next mission, hopefully i hit paydirt.
