A freind and i decided to have a go night fishing on brissie river. we hooked up bream as live bait. We were hoping for a bull shark but ended up with this thing. He had a good time bringing it in. It measured 1.20m. Unfortunatley we didn't get a chance to wieght it (couldn't figure out how to do it - without killing it).

I was wondering whether it was a hairtail when I saw the pic as well Brenno, something just didn't look right, but I downloaded the pic and had a pretty close look and am about 90% convinced now it is a pike eel.

Yeah, pike eel for sure and top shark bait.........watch yer feet when they drop into the boat.......had one latch onto my jogger once. Reckon I broke the Guiness book of records for jogger removing ;D the jogger remained in his jaw for two hrs until we killed the bugger...they just won't let go! :o ;D Another one dropped into my cast net and the net ended up being a write off...real nasty piece of work them buggers :o
