Hi all went down to the jetty (the long one )last night after reading about some squid caught down at Wynnum recently to try my luck ,dug out my trusty old squid pole and my favourate jigs a stack of warm clothes and my cast net due to the prawns i'd heard about running there .after arriving I had to peel off a few layers off clothing not a good sign, not cold enough yet i'm thinking, had a chat to a few fellas on the way down and all reports were the same ,none as yet .I spent the next 4 hours throwing a cast net around and it was dissmal 1 prawn and no squid the highlight of the night was landing the unluckiest flathead in Brisbane in my net witch has no bottom pockets.I've been nailed a few times my those barbs on the back of there heads so it was great to see that they finaly worked against the bugger and got snaged up in my net ,1 other bloke told me that the prawns were on the night b4 ,(its always the way isn't it)The same bloke got about 6 for his efforts but I did notice the size of the them was huge, will try again in the near future.Cheers

The squis at sandgate are few and far between, when the first cold snap came i picked up half a dozen then the next couple of nights nothing. Talking to the guy at redcliffe bait and tackle said they came in then buggered off again. It is too early for them, but with any luck there will be a good season this year.
