Spent the last 3 days chasing pelagics around the Rous and Rainbow, plus a little bottom bashing at night.
Camped on Straddie inbetween trips with a million others.
Stacks of bait moving through both channels on the morning highs, with a variety of speedsters chasing them.
Connected to a Lt on the Live Fibre in question (see working curves of rods in tackle) and the Lt won, with the now questionable rod in two pieces.
Plenty of horse and frigates around on both days, along with some good schools of doggies.
These Jackals lures work on everything and we scored a nice doggies on one, but if it wasnt for the wire connecting the two trebles, it would have made short work of it.
Also scored a few nice squire to top off the trip.
The pics below are from a Sony digi and the ones after are from a new nikon, big difference in clarity.

Well done webby, the rous can certainly fire with mackeral on its day, my uncle describes it at as a highway for fish joining the bay to outside, but we ve only ever caught them anchored up with pillies under floats. and as for the squire we know that there are some real good spots there but the locals (moreton) wont share, even if my uncle has lived there on and off for 40 years. i know the pros also clean up on spoons when they are really running. do u troll or just flick at schools with those jackals?
anyways thanks for the report

Hi Will have to check out Blighs prices Matt, got a few at the T & T from Sundown at a real good price.
Two Dogs, Mate some were caught slow trolling on my D.R. , while otheres were caught spinning.
In regards to the Jackals, we were actually drifting the drop offs looking for a reefy or lizard, when one doggies happened to take a liken to the lure, sure tested the light gear out.
I dont think i'd go out particually targeting mackerel on them, firstly there too expensives and even though they have wire connecting the trebbles, their teeth still make a mess of the plastic.
Darryl, yep was us in with the crowds, plenty of rum shuld have dropped in.
Chat soon Ray.

I tried to get some intrest out of the schools that kept popping up around Myora all weekend but no go. Most of them looked like Frigates to me but obviously Doggies there too. Thats a good feed on a busy weekend.
I will have to keep an eye out for you next time. I saw a couple of red boats north of Myora. We were moored in the Myora carpark along with about a hundred other boats.
Cheers

Yeah neil that was most likely us, Colin had his red rig out also, and you might have seen us drifting the drop off near the leases, matter of fact thats where the Jackal scored the doggies, they were chasing the Jackals back to the boat but wouldnt take them, till i speeded the retreive up and whack.
The other doggies were more up towards the drop offs on the second red beacon. Most of the school south were boniot/mack and frigate and you had to get real close and only had one cast before the went deep and surface further away.
Darren drop around and grab a few if you need bait mate, as i now have plenty from the last few trips to get me through winter.
