Went out yesterday with the better half and young lad for a social day over Moreton way. Checked out Tangalooma resort/ wrecks/ curtain / bulwer for a swims ,coffee and the sandhills so the lad could burn off some energy. Bay conditions were good. Pleasant trip over and got better as the day went on. Caught up with Mr Wong(Norm) and his crew. So we had both the polys 4.55 and 5.3 out on the water together.

However not much serious fishing done. We started to throw a few lines in around Bulwer in the later afternoon. Norm let us know he was get a few bite offs- we guessed the macks might be making a show. Moved over to the area were Norm was seeing some interest. Re rigged a few lines - used some of that braided wire- 3/0 u turn gangs/squid skirt-white and a small pillie- lines away-better half was using the bait jig out fit. All was pretty quiet with some undersize fish(reef-parrot/grassies) on the jig coming aboard. We decided to start the drift again with Norm from the inside of the island. Had most of the lines in when the 4 kg outfit burred into action. Hooked up,good run ,felt some head shake and a fair bit of wieght on the little 4 kg outfit. After 10 mins saw some color and took us by suprise - a good knobby. Gaff away -net out - all went smoothly-and its snapper for tea.

We called it quits as ice was low- Mr Wong helped us out with some xtra ice and home ward bound- nice way to end a great day.

Put the fish on the old scales- came in at 7.5kg/16.3 lb thereabouts- not sure on the accurracy on those scales theyre pretty rusty/old but whatever I was very happy- :)

Hi Steve,

:)- no mate - You ve heard of that line " 10% anglers that catch 90 % of the fish"well- it hurts a little but I am one of those 90 perecenters that only catch 10 perecent of the fish- hey someones got do it-without the likes of me the percentages would all be out :o and one of the main things its all good- time on/or near the water .

best regards,
lew

Congratulations once again mate........ seriously impressive fish! For all those who read Lews report..... dont listen to his equasion. The man is in the top 10 percent he catches fishies when others cant, he plans his trips and is a perfectionist in all areas! (oh except for catching thermos's of coffee! ;D :D
Look at his results when he is merely having a family day out.....
An awesome fish on 4kg gear as stated!

Good fish!

Why do they always go for the lighter line? Makes it a little interesting I'll bet. ::)
Well done.
