View Full Version : Good session at Scarborough 18/04

5 more days to go before back to the coal so snuck another plastic session at scarborough in. Ended up having one of the best mornings yet over there and topped it off with the biggest snap on plastics so far.
Took my mate Daryl with me and between us got 8 squire/snapper, 2 bream (1 went 40cm) and a nice sweetlip. The icing on the cake was a shallow water brute that went 81cm and 7.5kg. This tested Daryl out on the 8 pound gear he was using and took a bit of chasing around in the tinny. A couple of blistering runs during the morning felt similar to the biggun but resulted in bust offs or straightened hooks.
As expected the smile will be a while being wiped off his face and he reckons its the biggest fish that he's ever caught, any species.
Interestingly we also got a giant toad each on the plastics, the 1st vermin I can recall catching on them.

Cheers, Derek

squire that pales in comparison to Daryl's but would be considered a good shallow water size usually

The biggun. My trick photography doesn't do it justice.

Lippa, I think they would have eaten anything today but mostly bass assassins.

Hey Dezzer,

well done - can understand why you d be stoked- sounded like a great day bet they all gave a good account of themselves.

Regards to that yacht- I saw a lot of dark billowing smoke mid water -north end of the bay (between bribie /Moreton) on Monday while having a BBQ at Redcliffe- am guesssing but I reckon she might be the source- sad.

once again Dezzer, top effort m8.

cheers,
