A bunch of firsts

I thought i'd make my first post with a report on an afternoon session today where I broke three ducks my first flathead, first fish on my new rig and my first fish on a soft plastic. Unfortunately it was only a baby flatty all of 25cm's long which preceded to spike me as I tried to unhook it to throw it back >:(.

Being shore based I was fishing the Nerang River under the M1 and got the fish on a berkley gulp 2 inch pumpkinseed minnow grub on a 1/8oz head.

Also hauled in a casting net and roll of cord though they were on rainbow bass minnows and I lost my hat but all in all it was good as there plenty of room for improvement from here.

Can't wait til dad and I can afford a boat but till then I'm hoping to get my share from land.

cheer up mate there is nothing wrong being landbased do your research and succes will come experiment in time you will learn what works

Also kayaks are cheaper ;) they can also get to places that big stinky stink boats can't. :D

Well done mate, first flathead on sp , keep it going. have a try for those big nerang whiting on gulp worms?
