Hey all, Just spent a day bottom bashing Hervy bay, got a nice mixed bag of reefies including this nice trout jigging a squid soft plastic. I caught him using a rod I had made by Garry Howard. It was made for casting for mangrove jacks. It is a Samuri blank about 10kg with a Abu 6500. Biggest fish of the day on the smallest outfit in the boat.

Gday Guys, I let him go thinkin its probably a big breeder. It was caught were the charter guys collect their live bait (yakkas) so it goes to show you gust dont know were and what youll get, you just have to try. I was copin a bit of stick for using soft plastic squids but the teasing stoped after the trout and hugh chinaman fish and more hits.

Well done scrotty, very nice Trout!
Am heading out tommorow morning (I live in the bay) and would be grinning ear to ear if I get a snorker like that! Am just getting into the plastics and like it so far, wish I'd started earlier :)
Have seen and heard of some interesting fish at the bait grounds, although the men in grey suits don't mind taking the area over either ;D

Gday Guys, I dont know what the weight was, I was in a bit of a hurry to get the photo and get him back in the water. The only other fish we caught at the bait grounds were livies and heaps of school mackeral. They don't do much for the bait jigs!
Holy Crap!!!
That's all I can add
