Took the missus for a camping trip behind the wreck at peel for a couple of nights. Beautiful spot and beautiful weather to go with it! Did most of the fishing walking along the rocks on the eastern side of peel with soft plastics.
First day pulled four flathead, biggest went 67cm, kept him for dinner but released the rest. Found it hard trying to land the flathead waistdeep in water!
That night motored out just in front of the wreck and caught three squire - 35, 37 and 39cm, all on fresh benito with no lead. Next day worked the rocks again on the outgoing tide, flicking a gold bomber in the shallows and was lucky enough to score another flathead (but released him). Flicked my gold bomber out to what looked to be a rippling deeper section and first cast got slammed by a nice tailor which we cooked up for lunch :)
That night went out for another bash in front of the wreck and pulled in two squire - 37 and 40cm. Then decided to try right beside the wreck on the incoming tide using a pilly on a three-gang hook with no lead. After five minutes one of the rods took off and I just managed to keep him out of the snags, eventually landing my personal best - a 50cm squirey/snapper :D
All in all had a great camping trip and will definately be going back for more!
