Giday fellas,
Long time no see, long time no post. Have moved up to Redcliffe, but so far unable to pin a fish from there landbased - ah well will just have to keep trying.
Anyway, woke Jackash up at 330 am to make the trip down to noosa river on Anzac day. Got out there and conditions were perfect, though a little cool. We had our own dawn anzac day service, sitting quietly in the tinny. Day started well with me taking my first ever bream on a popper second cast of the day. After that things were a little slow till the sun came up a bit more, then the fishing really came on. Jackash took about 20 fish in 2 hours on softies (mostly small trevally and just legal bream) and i caught about 10 fish (flathead, bream and trevally). The two highlights for the day though were while fishing under a bridge, i was bringing in a small fingermark, when i saw a dark shadow appear beneath it. Jackash yelled out stop winding, all of a sudden a huge estuary cod (at least 1m in length) snaffles the fingermark off the surface and needless to say the 6 pound leader didn't last to long... Still it was awesome to see. Later we saw some suface action further up river, i fire out a cast and do a quick retrieve only to see a giant tailor materialise behind my tiny powerbait (with a size 4 hook in it). This fish also would have been a good metre long. The fight lasted about five minutes, so i was starting to feel that we were half a chance that i must have pinned the corner of his mouth, only to have that horrible feeling of being bitten off. Still, two unreal fishing moments in the space of an hour. Hoping to get back up there again this weekend, to get that cod... And that tailor....
Cheers Fritzy
