Headed out with Mr Wong(Norm) and lads-, one each (10and 4 y.o) to check out Scott's Point In my boat the smaller polycraft 4.55m. Leisurly start- in at around 0830. Ramp busy- lot of jet skiers. Off we go -up towards Hayes- doing a drift adjusting position with the electric. About third cast Norms got a pike much to the boy's excitment.

The young fellas are getting a bit restless watching a dad either end of the boat casting the SP's. About 10 minutes go by- I am on - and get my lad to reel it in with some guidence- Flathead 47 cm- (SP- berekly gulp minnow worm p/seed,3 inch-1/4 jighead TT s- squidgey braid 6 lb/4.5 kg vanish leader) :). Thankyou Norm.

We wandered around to front of Scotts - did some bait fishing - something easier for my son- still few SP s being cast around while at anchor. Results - 4 shovel noses /4 small squire. Shovel noses are pretty impressive to a 4 yo. :) So after bit of a jaw wag, coffee and snacks, youngest having a nap in the improvised cubby under the console and slight shift we moved slightly northwards for some drifts.

With in few mins Norm has hooked up but it eludes us -next cast -bang- tailor- hits hard and peels off some line to fight on the surface- (about 38cm) ( bass minnow 4 inch). Few cast after I ve hooked up but its not behaving like the tailor. After 5 mins we see some colour- squire- netted - mid 40 cms. SP snap back /lime-pink/3 or 4 inch/1/4oz head.

It s now after lunch - wheres the day gone- it's chopping up - a metre rolling in and those white horses appearing. We called it quits and back to the the ramp. Good day- the SP stuff is addictive- sweet way to fish and very effective- I think its not to far for me in the future to leave the bait at home -

am on a borrowed computer- will try to get some pics up soon.

best regards,

lew
