Today dad (kingtin) and I went out in the pine for my birthday. I brought my new rod that dad got me. We left the boat ramp at 6:45am.
First we put out the 8 pots and then we went to a good fishing spot that dad found last trip out. We anchored up threw our lines out within 30 seconds of the first cast I was hooked when we got it to the surface it was a bream of 30 centimetres long. After 15 minutes dad got a nice fish that ran really fast It took 50 metres approx off his spool within about 10 seconds but then dropped the hook. We got a few more nice bites and I got my second bream of 28cms and dad got a crab by another hour but we had ran out of bait due to the crabs.
For the next 2 hours we went looking for herring for bait and we got some but we got way more prawns than we did hering we got a full bucket of them. We headed back to the fishing spot for the rest of the afternoon. I got another two bream of 25cms and dad got three estuary cod all undersize by a couple of centimetres.
After we had enough fishing for the day we decided to pack up all the rods and bring in the crab pots so we could go home. Out of all the crab pots and crabs we had caught on hooks we got 19 crabs, 12 of which were jennies and only one buck was keepable.
I think this is the first time I have out fished my dad and I think it will be the only time I will out fish my dad.

Happy Birthday and a great effort outfishing your old man jay Jay. The Pine certainly throws up a lot of suprises. I would love to see it after a few years of banning those trawlers I see so often.
Cheers Neil

Well done JJ and happy birthday you did alot better then me and my youngest(6)all we nailed for the few hours was 1 jenny crab(returned) ,we didnt get there till 11.30 and the trailers were parked out on Wyampa rd by that time ,as we were heading to our spot I got the horrid death rattel in my out board and sad to say its no longer with us and it was only 29 years old ,I forgot to mention the trip was so that miss 6 could break in her new rod a tackle box that she got for her b,day ,the tide changed changed direction(out)and the wind was going in the same direction so we uped anchor and turned canopy into make shift sail and slowly made our way back to the ramp untill some champion bloke with his familly stopped and dragged us back to the ramp.So not a sucsefull trip at all and now i have to go to bank and ask for more money to replace 1 motor :'(

When one door of happiness closes, another opens: but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us

Happy Birthday mate!
Decent catch to mate.. I was on the Hornibrook Bridge and further up the channel when the tide went out at sundown- 2 undersize bream and that was it.
Good work fella, you're old man should be looking over his shoulder more often now- maybe even start giving him some tips!
Ian ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D
