took the lovely wife out for a few hours of kid free time yesterday for a look round out of the wind .
started her off on 4" gulp minnow on 4lb fireline 10lb leader and within 15mins she squeeled and said she had sumthing , looked round and she had a nice litle lizard to the boat (her first on sp ).
saw a few more come aboard in the next 30mins then threw the bait net for some livies to drop on the reef out front (nice herring, mullet and gar) then on the 3rd cast something hit the net with a thump and up came a 62cm lizard , few piccies and back in the drink. next cast in a bit of a hole saw the net take off nearly pulling me off balance and i said jesus this is a biggun , only to see a lost turtle the size of a wheelie bin lid shoot up to the top of the net , bit of pushin and shaking saw it free and swim off unharmed .
dropped the livies overboard out front for an hour with only one squire 45cm making it to the esky the rest are swimming round with me tackle attached to their grins , got to blowy so we packed it in and picked up the rug rats from school . good to take the missus out , gunna do it more often as she really enjoyed a bit of "our time" . ;D

round the entrance of newport canals and the scarborough reefs , was bit windy to chuck plazzoes out front yesterday so we anchored up and baited for an hour , doesn't hurt to cover all fields of the sport as soft plastic fishing is'nt the be all and end all of light tackle fishing as some would have you believe , although my pb on light tackle (4lb fireline) was a 63cm 3kilo on a gulp a few weeks ago in 17ft of water and lost one even bigger on bait in the same spot only days later at the net #:-[ .
ahh well dats fishun #;)
