Logan River 15/05

Had a nice day out on the water.

Started at 4:30 went to the yabbie beds and pumped some yabbies. Threw the cast net for some herring and mullet for livies. Waited for it to get light before anchoring at my favourite spot. Loaded up a live herring and cast it out. 10 mins went by until it got a little touch. Then line started peeling slowly from the baitrunner. Thought it might have been a crab at first but when I picked it up I felt a fish on the other end. Landed a nice 52cm lizard. Was gut hooked so I kept it. Good start to the day. So I baited back up again and tossed it back out. Decided to give the old squidgy a go if there were lizards around. First cast I hook up and land a nice 42cms lizard. Day going great so far!!! Decided to keep it also so that was enough for a feed. Landed a lot of small to just over legal bream on yabbies on incoming tide. I got two nice whiting in the last 1/2 hour. First one went 36 cms second went about 30cm.

No catfish and only three stingrays which makes a difference, also no crabs about. Only got one tiddler in the pot.

Those whiting are pretty good size,
Do u usuall get a lot of catties there? ...ive never fished the logan river before.
Too bad about not getting any crabs though.., but you still got a nice feed there anyway! :P

Normally get a few catties. Last time out I was getting three stingrays for every fish that I caught. Very annoying session it was.

Nice catch, looks like someone had drunk the stubbie before you caught it. Those flattys look yum and the whiting.

Oh well someone has to do it, Chris, I usually find Visa or Mastercard plastic works best when chasing stubbies. I used give Amex style plastics a go but found the hook up rate too low.

No crabs what happened I have heard there is stacks of crabs in the logan. I must have caught too many ;D ;D

I was trying a different bait holder and don't think it worked well for the crabs. You couldn't relly see the bait so I think I will scrap that idea and make the bait more visible.
