With saturday a wipe out, and our sunday trip cancelled, and the wx so good, a late friday evening trip to Rainbow was undertaken.
Left Vicky Pt to arrive Rainbow before the 9pm + low, trip across was smooth seas and a warmish evening.
Arrived to find little bait activity so freshly sliced mullet and tailor were deployed.
Not a touch by 11pm, so down to Peel to use up some time before heading back to Rainbow.
i snoozed while Cameron played around and scored a couple of legal squire, then it was back up Rainbow for the 2.30am high.
Arrived to find bait a little more active on the surface which made thing look more promising.
Deployed some more fresh mullet and waitied and waited, around 1 and half hours into the wait, the 15 came to life and we had our first for 2006.
Not another click of the reel after that, and with the concrete starting a 7.30am we headed back, to a lively Vicky pt ramp by 5am.

For those inquiring she went a tad over 12kg. Water temp is still up, need a week of clear skies to drop the temp and hoepefully their numbers will increase.
Plently of pike starting to show up, so that should help even more.

Thats the news I have been waiting for.
I spent the weekend at Rainbow trying to pick one up in the suds when I should have been back home giving swimming lessons to a couple of Mullet.
Congratulations on a fine way to start the season [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

well done Brian, beaut fish ... even one makes a night.
Its May webby! Next year you'll have one in Friggin' February. ;)
I tried to score in the surf Sat. night but could only managed another damn tailor on a tailor head.
Do i read your post right "deployed some fresh mullet" as meaning that silver was caught on a slab?
