Hey Guys,

Went off to do some land based fishing on mothers day at Paradise point. Me and my mate found this awesome spot in some estate where there were no houses. First 10 mins a nice golden travelly and moses perch. However just as i changed to soft plastics a security gaurd told us we werent welcome there :'(. It was a pitty, a great spot, saw one travelly jump in front of me and something huge swim right in front of me.

So we went to a beachy spot near a bridge and came out with a few bream and whiting. Good day, although I definently wouldnt mind trying that spot in the estate again.

Cheers Samand

Were there any signs that said you couldn't be there?
If not, the security guard has no authority.

He doesn't really have any authority anyway.

I was driving around an estate where there were no signs saying I couldn't , and was abused by a security guard.

I reported him to the developer and was thanked for my trouble.

And if there were signs, meh, you got a nice GT and a moses. ;D

Its a shame that the security guard moved you on, especially when its only land no houses. Its a pitty so many areas are fensed or off limits to the landbased anglers. The problem isn't the fishos, its these #@&*%$ Idiots who set fires to jetties and vandalise spots and stuff it for everyone. So old mate turns up with a fishing rod and a packet of prawns and ends up public enermy No 1,you'd wish common sense would prevail. Anyway mate by the sound of it I'd be sneaking in for another shot, let us know how you go? ;) ;)

Yeh there were no signs, i just rekon the security guard wanted to start trouble. And the stupid thing is if we were in a boat or a kayak like 1m in front of the land, he couldnt do anything.

Same thing happened to me in that spot. The land is private land, and he does have the authority to move you on. >:( He also has hidden cameras to see you coming. :o

There are a few blocks of land that are zoned public open space, so maybe you can fish from there? They are the green spots in the UBD street directory. One of the guards is very friendly to fishos, and the other is a definite grouch. Give the council a ring, and know your rights before you go out next time. Give the guards a ring, after speaking with the council, and confirm parks are ok, otherwise you could end up in a fight. I swear on of those guards is on steriods and looking to practice his kung fu. :-[
