After weeks of "i'm gunna go", i finally got the boat wet this weekend. Headed to mud friday night, albeit a little late, arriving only just on dark. Good fish shows on the sounder. Two little squire 45 and 47 cm was a good start to my snapper fishing year. Lots of fire in the water after dark, so headed in at 7:00pm, pleased to have found my happy place. Sorry to the SP brigade but my fish were caught on bait.
Much to my surprise the crew was happy to head out saturday night as well. Decided to give the pink fish a rest, mainly due to the anticipated crowds!! and try for a tailor at the darcy light. They came on the chew at dark, after not so much as a sniff in the daylight. We ended up with 8 choppers between the two of us, but left plenty more in the brine. My last three strikes resulted in bustoffs, although this was possibly due to lack of gear maintenance (light line is not good when its old!!!). Some of the tubbies were pretty hard to turn. Back at the ramp by 7:15.
Sorry there are no pics, but this is my first post and iam still learning!!
see you on the brine
