Hi Does anyone know if it is possible to access skirmish point by foot, and how far the walk is and the best place to park. I have been told it is a 5km walk is this correct?
Also does anyone know if the fishing is any good here for tailor and the odd mackerel (although late in the year).
any tips would be great.
Thanks
Daniel

haven't fished there for a few years but i'm sure little has changed. you can drive down a dirt road to a car park and the walk out to the point would be way less than 1km. i used to get the odd school mackeral off the beach and plenty of chopper tailor. The whiting fishing wasn't too bad either
cheers

Daniel,
The walk would be less than a 1-2 km. You can catch good dart there as well as other species mentioned.
This is the link to a map finding service provided by Sensis. Just type in Woorim into the suburb and Qld into the state and then "get map". You can zoom in using the bar below the map to get the street names.

Take last road on the right before you hit the surf beach at Woorim and then keep turning left. You'll end up on a dirt road that ends in a parking area. Lock your car (and don't leave anything valuable in it) and take the track to the beach - about 400 metres. Then walk south until you reach the corner - this is Skirmish point. Best fished on the first of the run out soon after dawn. A good big eddy forms on the eastern side of the point and your best bet is to cast into the run out and let your bait swing around into the edge of the eddy. Good spot for tailor for the next few months, lots of dart here on small baits (but often of a size not worth keeping). Good location for school mackerel in the late summer and also for summer whiting in spring when a good stiff south-easter is blowing.
