With a minin anticyclone blowing away my chances of a big spanish and with no more wolf herrings to rig up, I checked the tides and decided to try for a few nice bucks. Night tides were good so the old man and myself went and ut em in.
Well apart from the other 500 people who had the same idea it looked promising. I had intended to do a bit of night fishing but couldnt get anyone to go with which turned out to be a real mistake because the humidity level went almost to 100 that night and from reports the jacks and barra really turned it on. I spoke to one bloke who nailed over 13 jacks in a two hour session ( he gave me a few fillets).
Anyway after crying all night I went back down in the morning and pulled the pots. Was quite happy with the result with 12 nice bucks. Caught over 27 jennys and set a new record for the number of crabs in one orange Jarvis waker pot with 16 crabs. Had to give the old fella a hand to get it out of the water. Geez I rate them pots.
Anyway the big suprise was when we weighed them. All crabs averaged well over th 1.5kg mark with the heaviset weighing 2.3 kg. Really nice an d full. The first time in my life i have not been able to eat a whole crab myself .
Anyway heres a pic of my share. By the way Im a walking sieways at the moment.
