Arrived at happy hervey a couple days before the long weekend with tent in hand and a quick shop for some food and beer then off to burrum heads for a couple of days before the camping trip.
We left Friday arvo and the weather gods were looking after us at this time with the sun setting and the moon rising (who cares) were going fishing and camping.
We arrived on dark 'set the camp site up with a good size fire and sat back, with beer in hand bragging about the fish we are going to land the next day.
Sunrise had arrived a little overcast with the ocean on our door step we are now going to put all that bragging to practice. after scouting the area (what a piece of paradise you northerners have kept quiet about) with cast net in hand we headed to the northern end where there is a logoon, we started looking for some live bait but there were none to be seen so the frozen mullet was used and within 10 min a lizard was landed (undersize and released) after a while another undersize lizard also released.
With no fish in hand we headed back to camp for lunch and the overcast sky started to turn into rain and more rain, then came the wind so now the rain was sideways and lots of it (Bugger) just when all our bragging was to put to good use.
The next day the sun was shining again and a little overcast we collected a few beach worms (fresh live bait) yeepeee and then headed to the northern end again where we landed good size whitening all morning using live beach worms :) :)
While the weather gods were now being good to us we got the fire blazing and cooked the fish for lunch and a nice hot beef stew on the campoven with a few more coldies and bragging.
Despite the poor weather and fishing conditions we will return to that piece of paridise.
