Went fo a quick flick down around cabbage tree point and the logan river this morning. Hit water water before dawn and watched the awesome SE Qld winter morning sunrise. Sure beats working! ;)
30-35cm squire seamed to be in plague proportions all morning until the tide change and then it was the breams turn with the odd flounder and pike. Lost count of how many fish we hooked up after the first hour. No real size to them unfortunately but great sport non the less. Kept 4 legals for the table and returned the rest for next year.
We used a variety of berkley Gulp SP, which worked a treat. Was hoping for a flathead all morning but not even a sniff.

One of the double hook ups on small squire. They really fired today. Now all we need is some quality.

Frustrating isn't it when you read reports all week that the pan size Flathead are out and about, but when you go you can't find one to save yourself! I had a similar result last weekend at the Pin - I did manage 3-4 flatties, but all undersize. The problem up there was the undersize Bream - they hit any lure that went into the water!
As you said though, it sure beats working. Those early morning winter starts are very fresh but the flat water and lack of boat traffic usually make up for it.

haha i no what you mean marty. Talk of sizeable flatties in the pine this week. i went down today to have a flick and nothing for 2 hours. Its probably just my technique as SP's still have me struggling, but i was still frustrated on the drive home. At least you guys had a bit of fun on the squire. well done

Good to see you and your team take the salt water since "itching feet"
Loads of fun fighting on varies unfortunaletly not many fish to take home.
Surprised that young squire's everywhere and seem a good sign for snapper fishing to come in years time... ;)
Welldone mate

It was a great session. Pretty much perfect conditions and a fair few fish were on the chew :)
