hi all
put a call out last night for a deckie for mud is today and chubby answered the call so met him at shorncliffe ramp this morning and set off to mud got to the outer leads and realised i left the camera on the front seat of the car decided it would be okas i have tinted windows and headed back towards mud arriving about 6.15 started to troll for tailor it wasn't long before we had our first in the boat ,we caught about 4 brfoe low tide so then we decided to anchor for and hour or so and do som bottom bashing and chubby was quickly into the bream landed 2 nice fish followed by a small wobby released, i lansed a small tarwhine and a leather jacket also released decided there was enough run in the water to troll for the tailor again so headed off to start we then got stuck into them thik and fast droppig a few fish on the was and also some hooks we ended up with about 21 tailor and 2 bream chubby landing 8 tailor and 2 bream not bad for a bloke that only took up fishing in feb this year he is a quick learner i only had to show him once how to put a pike on so it will troll right and the other lesson he learnt was that if the skipper says the wind is picking up fro the west and and we had better head home or get a sore butt on the front seat
well done chubby

i don,t bleed them as you can see by the water enough blood comes out anyway
and to put a pike on use 5 x 4 o hooks or 5 o hooks ganged together bottom one in the tail top hook has to go through the nose of the pike to keep its mouth shut or it will keep coming to the surface, then make sure you have 2 swivels on if trolling as the pike will spin and you will end up with bad line twists

all credit to my catch should be due to shane as he is the master
thanks a mil shane your student certainly has learnt a lot and appreciates it greatly
just for the record:
the smallest tailor caught went at 37cm (about 500g) caught by me and by the way my first ever tailor
the biggest was at 50cm (about 1.3kg) and caught by shane
the others ranged between 39cm (550g) to 47cm (1.1kg)
the 2 bream were 27cm (400g) and 30cm (450g)
all in all my best fishing experience thanks to shane

Well done Chubby! You really are getting the hang of this fishing stuff eh!
Keep on getting out there and practicing.
Robers, nice haul for the day mate. Plenty of tailor around the bay islands at the moment. Cheers.

Just a question, how do you explain the date stamp on the photo ? ;)

No offence intended but my lady just picked it up. :)

Yummy tailor! Nice catch! Well done!

Just a question, how do you explain the date stamp on the photo ? ;)

I suspect that he does not know how to operate the little details on his camera as well as he knows how to catch fish. :) The catch is consistent with what is being caught at Mud at this time. Those tailor look fresh to me. ;D ;D ;D
