First of all thanks Stephen for the day off work your next :)
Got up early and got to the ramp by 6:30am and at Mud 7am. Caught a few just legal Squire and a small Tuna which had yellow and black strips around the same time I had one HUGE run that went down to the backing on my reel. I had to start the motor and chase. I lost the fish shortly after this fish was moving way to fast for a squire. The Mud went dead until 2pm then it really hot up. 3 screaming runs but hooks pulled all 3 times. Then I hooked up to a big fish got it to the side of the boat but lost it while trying to land it. “I need a bigger net my guess was a about a 80cm Squire this would have been a PB bugger” does not mater anyway the esky would have been to small ha. A short time later I had another reel screamer run and got a 57cm Squire this time I did not stuff up with the net. A short time later i caught another 48cm squire which I gave to a family that was fishing with the grand kids. On the way back to the ramp I spotted some Ausfish members which had some boat troubles I gave them a hand and they where on there way again.

Today’s count
7 x legal Squire caught x4 of them released 1x given away.
I kept te following fish
1 x38cm
1 x 57cm
1 x Flounder.

I was very happy with today’s catch as I was not expecting much I lost my PB but there is always tomorrow.

Cheers Brent ;)

Sorry to hear the near miss,

All going well I will get my chance on Monday with a quick holiday to recharge the batteries - Mine, not the boat :D

I would be int to know which SP's, or is that a stupid question?? I should know better than to ask either you or Brent. Mazda Baby Bass 4" on about 1/8th Oz Jighead, would that be close?? PM me with either a deckie or a backup boat if you know anyone for Monday?

Hello Scalem,
I was using the trusty baby bass but i was using a 1/4 . The 1/8 would not get me down there. After today i am going to upgrade my leader to 16lbs as the 12lbs lost me some good fish today. Mate i hope this Sunday we get to use the net again but this time get it right. The bait was hard to find today as well the wind was agaist tides all day.

It would be interesting, going that heavy, do you think you will get fewer bites? That's always the question with SP's....

There are some awesome fish around I am sure, but the last time I got blown away that much I am sure it was sharks.

The 80cm + PB is very close I am sure, when everything comes together. Determination will get you there!! 8-)

Good luck

Scalem

80cm's Bugger. That would have put you in the 5kilo club for sure. Maybe tommorrow eh.

Sad stort there bout loosing the big boy, had the same thing happen to me last winter on light leader. The snapper smashed the softy and the whole jig head was down its gob, new I was in for trouble when it layed over and paddled its tail and then freedom.

Cheers
