Howdy Folks, I promised the Wife a lesson with the plastics this morning after all half the boat belongs to her ::).
We started out from Manly/ Lota ramp at 5-45am and headed across Waterloo bay towards the Huybers.
A 10 knot S/W gave a small chop and boy it was cool this morning.
Arrived at Huybers but could not get a park so off to Ormiston and to my surprise found 6 boats in my usual spot or close to.
Did a few drifts there but nothing showed so gradually we made our way along the reef edge until i hooked up to a couple of throw back squire around 33cms.
The Wife didn't even get a bite for the first few hours.
Well maybe a bite of leftover pizza from last night.
The fishing was very quiet until around 9-30 when the wife put her rod in the holder and all hell broke loose.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzz.
The little stradic screamed and it was on.
The wife would wind in some and then the fish would take it all back.
I had the drag set on 3lb and this fish was determined to stay in the water.
After about 5 minutes i net a nice 47cm squire.
The first for the wife on a plastic.
5 minutes later it was my turn.
These fish sure had some fighting spirit today!!!
Another squire at 37cm joins his mate.
Then just as i was taking a photo my line goes again.
This time a nice pan size sand flathead.
Things went real dead after that and we tried several spots without luck so back to the ramp before the low tide.
What great weather for a weekends fishing and a small feed as a bonus.
We were watching a small bait school on the surface when all of a sudden this sea snake launched itself through the school and got airborne.
This happened 3 or 4 times.
Amazing what crazy things one encounters out there on the water.
A very ordinary session but fun all the same.
Now the wife's hooked i guess she will want to come out on more trips. ;D
Cheers Brent :)
