Fished the Broadwater again today with high hopes after yesterday's relatively good success. Target was 4 keepers for dinner then release everything else. Too easy we thought. Pumped yabbies at sparrows and hit the usually reliable bream spot about 0630. No bloody bream. Worked at it for an hour or so for one just keeper. Fellow beside us had been there since 0300 for bugger all. Highlight was while chasing some working birds nearby we found 2 big manta rays cruising the area. Also had turtles around us.
Moved on to flick plastics for lizards. Very slow again. Quite a few undersize caught before the son in law caught a beaut 60cm fish. Another barely legal bream and the day was almost done and we are still one fish short. Had some fun trying to catch a squid that was attacking the plastic - first time I have seen them there. Finally managed another decent lizard - dinner in the bag and time to go home. Photo of dinner below !!
