Ah what a day, Got the boat in the water about 10.30am and went to Cobby Cobby Passage. Went to the sanbanks just past the rocks and and anchored up, Cast a Couple of SP's, the Gulp Minnow in particular across the drop off. Bait fished, I got a couple of little bites. The wife had caught a nice size herring, so it was anchor's up and back to the hole at the bypass channel to the rocks and burleyed and bait fished, with the Herring on a 6/0.
Nothing!! A good run on a prawn and wrapped around a snag as I was too slow and got broken off. After an hour of burleying and no bites it was time to come home (gee, ever noticed how time flies on the water). All up baits used were fresh prawns (not imported) ;) ;), live worms, white bait and herring. All up though, out of the wind and a beautiful day on the water.
Got to the ramp, loaded the boat and coming up Logan Motorway, blew the turbo charger on the Nissan.
There was that much smoke (all of it coming from the exhaust) that my wife jumped screaming from the car waving her arms and yelling for me to get out, while I calmly checked all the guages on the dash.
A short time later while I was checking under the bonnet, the boys with the big red truck rocked up sirens blasting. I thanked them very much, nice to know some passer by was on the ball.
Cut a long story short, Patrol towed home and boat got a lift with a neighbour (thanks Al!) As for the RACQ - wouldmn't be without em, would you??
The news is good for the turbo as well, only had a new one put in at the beginning of the year and the replacement will be a warranty job - so all good there. ;)
Next time, touch wood, a better day all round. Was planning to got out again on Friday night for an all nighter, but haven't got a tow vehicle at the moment.
Sorry for the bad report everyone, but can't all be esky fillers I suppose.
Cheers, ;) ;) ;) ;)
