Went for a morning fish in the passage today and came home empty handed - did land a total of 4 fish, 1 estuary Cod (undersize), 1 Mangrove Jack (undersize) and 2 just legal bream but put them pack. Got nothing in the crab pots either but it sure beat working 8-)

Good work getting a jack at this time of year snakecatcher. Was it on bait or lure. Which section of the passage did you fish?

Caught the Jack on live bait, as you say it was a bit of a surprise catch for this time of the year. I fish the caloundra end of the passage.

Cheers

Havent fished the area for a couple of years now but when things were slow or bream just bait pinches always used to be able to troll up a few flatties. Small lures used to be the go. I reckon the northern tip of Bribie this time of year is just a great place to be, rivals any Island. Better luck next time.

i was thinking about putting a nights fishing the southern end of bribie in the near future. I might rethink that and play in the pine.

Hi Mike, there are good bream in the passage. Have been very patchy of late but if you put in for an overnight secession I am sure you will get on to them.

Might see you down there one day as I fish there every 3 week on the Friday through to the Monday as my wife's parents live up there.

even the ""secret spot x"" has been a bit quite over the past few trips,,,, and its nomally good for a fish or two

have noticed though the lack of bait swimming around,,, so if they have moved to a different territory or not will be investigated this sunday

all up with reports coming in,,, passage has and is still geting bream/lizards,,, and the old captain coaxed a bag of tailor on monday?????? (bream bait,,,not worthy mentioning really)

and as snakecatcher put it,,,,,,,,,,,,,beats working

There was supposed to be some beach replenishment going on up that way this week, maybe that has had an impact on fish entering the passage?
