OK, finally got the phone and the pc to talk to one another. This first one, the end of the wreck would sit up off the bottom by maybe no more than half a meter, didn't walk over to measure.

Hey Rob, that day i didn't, I just went down after work one day at low to see what the tidal area looked like after having been in there at high in my mates boat. I'm yet to catch anything from this spot, which is odd because i thought it would be a perfect spot for some lizards, I have seen plenty of surface action here as the tide comes in. It takes a while to walk out to there, so i dont get down there too often.

Murks, hope the pics help.

I have taken plenty of big lizards there.. but it has slowed down quite a bit of late. Think too many people are taking them home for the plate. I have never and never would eat a lizard from there. I was down there about 2 years ago and some guys from the EPA were doing water testing. They told me that that place for some reaosn is the most polluted in the whole area and were trying to work out why. heavy metals/ddt/oil/benzoids you name it. I figure it might have somethng to do with river/tidal flow.

cheers

is that the sunken wall at Pinkenba, or some other one? I was thinking of a trip there and thought the water would be fine being so close to the river mouth.

Aye thats the sunken wall down at pinkenba chrisfish, most times when i go there, i just stay around near the cement wharf and a little further downstream. My brother scored this lizard from there, nabbed his prawnstar just after low tide, it was lying in wait just at the edge of the rocks under the water and grabbed the lure as somw boatwash was breaking on the bank. It has been the only fish from down that way that we've kept, it tasted good! But then the oil refinery is right beside the wall and the tidal area, thanks for that info craftrycarp, how could we find out if its safe now?

Nice fish slyman and good info crafty. ;)
I have always had my doubts about edible quality of fish from the brissy river.
Iam sure the further out toward the mouth you go it would be better but then again fish do travel don't they :-/

What type of phone did you take those pics on? They came out pretty good. I'm looking for a camera phone that I can take fishing with me.

You would think if this kind of information had been obtained that there would be signs at all the ramps and land based areas in close proximity to the area not to eat the fish from the river, as they do in freshwater damns affected by blue green algae... I would take BGA over heavy metals any day!

hey oddbudman, i use a nokia 6230, it has a 1.3 mega pixel camera, and as you can see it takes great pics as long as you dont get too close no more than a meter or so away. Takes video too, plays mp3s, bluetooth, wap, all the mod cons!!! Yeah you'd think they'd have that information at the ramps.

Hi fellas,

Several years ago I fished the sunken wall and decided to run a line of dillies for sandies up over those shallows on a rising tide. Ended up getting about 30 good sandies on that flat and right at the bottom end of the sunken wall near the lighthouse we scored a pile of good bream and a few flathead and a tailor around 2kg. The whole trip was a surprise to me cuz ive fished that area on and off for decades and not had results like that before.

I would however run dillies in that back area again one day just to see if it was a complete fluke.
