G'day
Well, decided to have a sniff around peel last night with mark, one of the rello's. He has a 5M steber runabout with a 115 tower of power... all 1973 model. Bit of a vintage nowadays hey;). Anyways, it was great to use the new navman trackfish6500 he has just installed and what a beautiful little piece of gear. I'm very impressed with it. We shot up to a spot on the north western side of peel just on dusk and well, not a thing. We we drifting the whole night, using an arrray of plastics, floating a pilchard on a gang and drifting a squid jig with my new little strobe light. I love this little light, about 1/2 inch round, 1.5 inches long and lights up the underwater world like a doof doof disco. It also looks like a crashed UFO. This thing was attracting fish all night,. and I'm shure one squid but nothing came off it. Headed over to the eastern side of the lazaret to a couple of shows but nothing. Went for a run over infront of the barge and silos at dunwich and nothing. Out the front of the platypus and nothing, down to coochie and nothing. Around to the jetty at viccy point and nothing. I couldnt work it out, seems like anything south of cleveland was shut down as I was talking to a friend this morning and he did very very well on the snapper at wello last night. The bay was glassed out completely and the fastest drift we had was 1kt. .2 and .5kt drift over ground was not uncommon. The water to me seemed a little dirty and geeze was it dark with that moon, or lack there of. anyway still a good night with perfect weather, beats the hell out of being down the pub, club or infront of the idiot box. At least we got to play with the new electronics :) . the only thing that got me thinking was how loud the transducer was when you switch it over to 50khz. any ideas or is this just the nature of the beast? We got back in about 0040.

G'day
Hey mick, I was going to go for a fish that morning but with all the rain and an open tinny, then it was not going to happen. Fact being was I would have been on water by 2am and that rain would have really drove me crazy.

Hi Dave

We were at Wello on Wed night and got only the one Snapp! Not even little stuff came up and that was from 2 spots that regularly produce! So for your mate to score well last night just goes to show that sometimes they're there and other times they're not! Bit like fishing the beaches for Tailor.

Still ,nice night to be out and we're off to the Aus Classic later tonight in the hope of some Brissie Rve Squire or perhaps another Threadie ;D!!!

Take Care T
