I start in Nov and pack it up in march and only use poppers.
BRING ON NOVEMBER ;)
Mick
Got my first of last season, last year in October, but their always there, just more sluggish in the cold. Easier to land usually. Bring on summer time, nothing like Jacks on plastics and poppers. :o :o
Hey Mick, Jack is the bonus point species at the next social, hope to see you there. 8-)
Cheers

If you have no patience and go further north I mean N.Q.
then you would have much chance to nag a jack... ;)
Happy fishing

I caught this one a few weeks ago in Weipa it was great fun to catch from around the mangroves.
It was on a live bait and was around the 2 kilo mark :)

They are at their strongest in the more humid months. The more humidity the better......................Billy

Get stuck into a creek or tributary during summer when it's really hot and sticky. Really need the humidity. They respond best to moving prey like lures or live baits, but will readily take well presented strip baits or whole dead baits. Present your bait well and put a bit of effort into your rigs. A fast hitting jack will soon make short work of a poorly setup rig.

Bronson,
The best time for Jacks differs with your location. They can be caught all year round but as most have stated it becomes far easier as the weather warms. In the Wide Bay Region start targeting Mangrove Jacks from late September but if it remains cool then put it off for a couple of weeks. Certain areas stand out as early start locations due to shallow sand flats where the water can increase in temperature lead into good Jack country.

depends on where you are. ive got around four solid locations in brissy/sunny coats/goldie area, and one is best in november, two in december, and one in feb. just depends on conditions also. generally when its muggy or a storm is forecast.
