Did a night excursion to Goat last night, with Steve, not Ausfish but a fellas from my work.
Left Vicky around 8pm, with a quick trip across the Bay on a perfect night.
All was quiet on the low at 9.30pm, so chase some bream on the rocks and had a kip at goat to wile away the time till the high later in the morning.
Use squid the first time, but pickup some pike and mullet on the runin.
Return to Goat at 1am and let the livies loose.
Had one run just before high, but it wasnt till 1hr after the high, that we had a definte hookup.
Steve could believe as it was his first trip hunting these blokes, what gets you all excited when you finally get one to the side of the boat.
Nearly the best i've pulled from the bay.
Bloody freezing last nite out there, even with 2 jumpers and full wet weather gear, the cold snuck in.
Home by 5.30 and off to work.
regards
For those that havent seen a close up
Ps Horse (Neil) better get you act into gear mate, time is running out ;D

Awesome fish webby.

I have never caught a jew with noticable worms in them, but i have caught tailor, flathead etc with worms around their ovaries and stomachs. Parasites (Worms) in fish are completely harmless to us if you eat the fish. Even if you eat the worms, you'll be right. Only one known worm (Anisakis) which is found in tuna/mackeral/threadfin salmon and many more can harm humans if eaten. The worm found in these fish is a larval stage that matures in dolphins so it can survive in our stomachs. However if the fish is cooked, these worms will die also. So if all fish are cooked there is no problems no matter how many worms there is.

Just an added note, there have only been like 3 reported cases of this worm affecting humans in australia.

Cheers

Still plenty of time Webby ;D

Just don't catch them all before I get a chance to get out.

How much did it weigh in at ?

You wouldn't need any ice to keep him with weather like this ;D

Another great effort

Just back from a bream fish up caloundra, and very very quiet.
May susprise a lot but it only pulled the scales at just on 17kg, long and slim with a big guts.
If i though fish could look pregnant this certainly did.
As Jack Hunter said, yes some do carry worms, butonce cooked your as safe as the Westpac bank.
Neil yeah mate still plenty around, we missed one just befoe the high, Steve being inexperienced didnt get a positive hook up, and i'd say after the initial run he spat the bait.
Mate found plenty of pike and poddies at bird on the dunwich side.
Mate it was also one of the coldest night ive spent in the bay, but with perfect tides and moon couldnt resist going out.
Darren you would have need 2 bottles to warm the cockles ;D,
