Took the boat for a run yesterday, 1st time since Easter. Fished Marks Rocks, Aggie Sands and Elbow. Small whiting and a little tailor (very aggressive for his size).
I was a bit disappointed at the Carbrook B/Ramp though. $5 self registration, muddy ramp (quite dangerous really). Am I asking too much for $5? I saw some blokes pull in, read the signs then leave. I don't think I'll go back there again. Is there an alternative apart from Skinners Park on the southside? Cheers

nope, its either skinners/ bobs boathouse or... cabbage tree point / redland bay. the rest is private property. i personally dont mind paying the $5 only because its just down the road for me...but compaired to other places that are topclass boating facility's and free its a sad affair at bobs....

there's the one opposite carbrook @ alberton unfortunately it's becoming more & more popular & is only a single lane , the council probably don't clean it as often as they should either but it's FREEEEE !!!! & less than a km from home

You guys make a good point about the lack of public ramps in that area.
The Fed Govt has a program that comes up annually to give grants in support of Rec Fishing. The one for this year was about Mar/Apr I think. I know the Fed Mbr for Bonner (Wynnum/Manly) organised some money for something I think it was cleaning tables or something, it was in the local rag. Anyway, hit up your local Fed Member to get you the point of contact and ask for some money to develop a ramp. There was money left over last time and THAT is a crime.

I know this is a case of "he who sees the need gets a job" but if they're willing to give the money it might as well get used for something useful.

Hey fellas ,
There is a brand new ramp further upstream at the Logan River right before Beenleigh on the M1. ;)
I have checked it out and at high tide would be fine, at low tide however very muddy and I guess wouldn't be that great but it is free too :)

they should simply increase and improve skinners - it gives good access to the north via mt cotton and to the west & east via redland bay beenleigh red, my only though would be the residents of that nice house next door may object

Funny, father-in-law and I were only discussing that ramp with a mate (new qlder) last saturday, I havn't used it for years, obviously it hasn't changed. Bit of a bummer as Logan's a good fish sometimes and great in a blow when you're going cold turkey..........Billy

Dont worry about the people in the big house next to skinners , they bought next to a public space so they know what can happen, i grew up and spent the first 20 myrs of my life less then a klm from skinners ramp and i agree with you that its the best launch site on the logan. Myself , my brother and old boy have all caught good jacks very not far from that ramp and a cod that went 10 kilo was our best . Great river the logan and i still fish it when i visit the parents,

Yeh the Carbrook ramp is a dead set rip off. $5, for what? :-/ I agree with Chris, give Skinners an upgrade.
