View Full Version : Herm's 1st Squire!!!!!
Hi Guys!
Last night, when I saw that Scalem was heading out this morning and was offering a deckies position - It was Fate - it was mean't to be! :)
Today was my first day in 4 years that I didn't have my little girls to look after. My baby (2 years old) started daycare this morning (just 1 day a week) so I can concentrate on my "work" I enquired last night about return times and then felt extremely guilty about leaving her there and thinking about heading out for a fish! So I decided against it! :(
Then this morning Pete shook me awake to tell me that Scalem had PM'd me and that he would bring me back in if there were any dramas at daycare, and kept telling me to "GO and catch a fish, and make sure that you remember all of his spots!!! ;)
So after more prompting from Peter and then some from TOL - I rang Scalem and arranged to meet at Wello ramp at 9.30am. YEAH!!!! :D Not a real flash day for being on the water but a great way to spend a childfree day!
Plastics only on Scalem's rig and after a quick drive out, out went the sea anchor and lines in! We drifted and I was just hoping to get something legal to prove to Pete that my new rod and reel purchase did catch fish, managed to hookup and under Scalem's expert instruction and net handling skills, boated a 41cm squire! Very pleased! :D :D
With the wind causing a couple of position changes, we ended up settling back at Wello and decided on a few more drifts before calling it a day. First drift in this position and we both hook up - Scalem 41cm Squire and me a 40cm Squire!!! :) Not long after decided to call it and head for home!
THANK YOU BRIAN for a wonderful day and my PB squire! (I owe you!) Pete is soooooo jealous! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Janine,
It was a TOP day wasn't it?? [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] It was "meant to be." We really went out far too late, but our committments to family have to come 1st, I had to drop mine off to school too so it worked well meeting up when we did. But we caught fish anyhow which is even better!!
I have to thank you for the priviledge of experiencing your 1st ever placcie caught snapper. How do you stay so calm? I was ready to start dancing and yahooing, but I asked "are you onto a fish" to which your reply was something like "It sure feels like it." :D Your second capture was even more relaxed when you continued your conversation with me, while playing your fish. You are living proof about which sex is better at doing two things at once. ::) Theres no way I could do that :-/
Whatever you do, hide that new rod/reel combo from Peter when you go out, or it will cost you more money. Most likely an early Christmas or birthday present whichever comes 1st ;D
Thank you Peter for the provision of a well trained deckie. She is certainly set from here, you better watch out!! It will be great to keep seeing you guys on the water and please stay in touch!

scalem out fished by a girl mate ;), ahh not to worry, i'm pretty sure the fish prefer the women's touch.
Good to see you got onto a few this time, and especially at wello. i think i might have to go and sus wello out a little more for myself soon, it seems to be producing some top quality fish day and night.
Congrats on the catch janine, i'm sure it won't betoo long before you reach another new PB

Janine: Hello, is this the cjildcare centre?
Childcare Centre (CC): Yes it is.
Janine: I want to book my kids in there 5 days a week from low tide to high tide.
CC: Okay
6 months later.
Janine: I am wondering of I left my kids there...I having been fishing a lot lately and kept thinking I had left something behind somewhere. I checked all my plastics, they are all there. I checked my rods and reels, they are all there. Then it finally dawned on me..I once had some kids I left somewhere.
CC: Yes, they are still here.
Well done, Janine.

After following your fishing adventures for a while now, it is great to see the results. Well done. Fishing in the middle of the day can be difficult, so to get a few is a very good result.

Good one Janine, that is a nice way to spend your first child free day, hopefully they are the first of many more .
Cheers Ian

Well Done HERM! What a great feeling it is to consumate your relationship with Placcies! I'm with SCALEM when he mentions yahooing and dancing! In fact, it still happens on my boat!
Brian, another outfished by a woman!! I think the stars and planets are misaligned at the moment... Watch out Pete! Janine will have bragging rights for sometime if you don't tip the scales back in your favour!
Still, frame those pic's Janine!

Congratulations Janine.
The first squire on plastics really gets the adrenaline flowing.
They only get bigger from now on.
Good onya Brian for showing how its done.
Don't worry mate the first timmers always catch the biggest fish..lol
Cheers Brent.
Well done to the both of you. Janine for your first squire and to Brain for taking her out with you and showing some of your spots. It is great to hear about ppl meeting from this forum and becoming good enough friends to share the experience. As for Pete and TOL, good onya for convincing our young Janine to take some time out to enjoy herself.

THANK YOU everyone for your replies!!!! :D
I had a great time! Thanks again Brian!
Scalem - I was alot more relaxed on the surface than underneath! ;) but I figured that if I did not make a big deal of it and then lost it, it would not be so bad! I leave all of the yahooing and jumping around for Pete! Also being the first fish on that rod and reel (and being an Alvey girl) I really don't know what I am doing with the drag etc. But I do love that rod! :)
TOL - Thanks for the extra push! I really did want to go - but the guilts had me in the morning but I got over them! :) I think about the time the reel went ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! ;)
Pinhead - what can I say to that! :) She was only booked in at all because I had just picked up some work - drawing plans from home and I was having trouble getting through them with her running around and trying to use my computer - but did not have any to work on yesterday - hence the free day! Please eveyone be assured that I AM NOT sending her to CC just so I can go fishing!!!!! :)
Cheech - would not have actually called the "adventures" more lik dissapointments - but not yesterdays trip! :)
T1 - The not yahooing was more of a "if I drop it I am going to look like a dill!" more than not being excited! ;) /
Kel - It is nice to meet up with people in real life espesially those generous enough to give you some (alot) of tips! :)
Shayned: They do go hard and they were me first legal fish (other than my undersize tailor) that I had caught on my new little GLoomis rod - it is a lovely thing! Peter has stocktake at work this weekend/week coming so no fishing for me this week unless someone needs a deckie! ;) ;) But from next weekend Pete is on holidays for a couple of weeks, so I think that we will be on the water alot! ;)
Thanks again everyone!

Well done Janine,
Good to see the girls doing well. I know what you mean I don't think that there is any point in getting excited until you have it in the boat. Ian always says that I am too calm but hey if you are due to catch it and get it in you will. If I catch fish that are big or an unusual size for the area he starts giving advice at the top of his voice and hopping from one foot to the other.
Hope you catch heaps more

Pete - You know what you have to do now.... Get out there buddy, and hammer them as hard as you can!

Fabulous catch janine, and with a top bloke like Brian!
Never, never, never feel guilty about creating the opportunity for a bit of child-free time out , and doing something JUST FOR YOU!!! I'll prob. get canned by a few for this, but us blokes often have it easy, with our patient ladies often letting US have the time away while they do the home bit! I know that my wife is always happy for me to get out whenever i can, and I'm the one who feels guilty leaving her at home (really?? did I actually say that??)
Cath you on the water!!
Lawry
YEAH Lawry!
You sound like a top bloke!!! :D

I had the perfect fishing offer this afternoon to go out with lets just call him the bay master ( Name with held so he does not to get flooded by PM's for sponsorship fishing lessons / outings )
He mentioned a trip out tomorrow nite in search of a few big snapper and to put me ahead in the points score with Janine ;D ;D ;D
But I have to work :( :( :( :( I thought of pulling a sickie but wouldn't feel right about it but then again a 60 plus cm snapper would be worth it. So I said no this time round but come the holidays at the end of next week and I'll be bagging my first snapper or squire. ;D ;D ;D
Thanks again for the offer ;)
