18th - Was an evening session down the mouth of the marina. Live herring were sent out and I fished with dead squid a bit which a small cod was caught. Live baits weren't touched. Big run in, dropping sun, thought at the very least something would register. O well, keep trying.

22nd - Aftenoon lure session down in the ross creek. Flicked the small rediey's and golden bomber around. Started off behind the old railways on the abandoned bridge they have there. Walked across it and was a 60cm low. Figured fish the low for some reason, warmer water around in the shallows etc, small barra might be moving about. There was oodles of mullet varying in size everywhere hanging a small rocky bar underneath. Flicked round there - nada. Saw a prosectuers will be fined 1000 bucks being on the bridge. Quickly headed towards victoria bridge and the snag that hangs off it near the metro apartments. Again lots of mullet around, tide ripping in now and thought at least there is bait in the water, only positive. No hits after numerous flicks over the snag and around it. A few of the 'locals' has appeared behind me and sat strategically at the steps (from where I descened from street level to the mud/sand at the bottom. A few verbal taunts from them and I continued fishing.........2 more brothers rocked up, now a 4 on 1 situation and felt strangely uncomfortable. Bailed up the rocks and got out of there.

Anyway thats the report on me break. Nothing much, but at least i got out and caught some good old NQ sunshine

Hi Noodles,

I think I saw you and a mate fishing the mouth of the marina. I was there with my wife fishing with mullet strip baits and live mullet. 1 Grunter 37cm and thats about it.

Next time.. Fished the same spot on Sunday morning 5:30am. Again 1 Grunter36cm and got busted up big time by.........(NOT SURE) on 30lb braid with 40lb leader (live mullet).

Cheers

yeah that was me man, had a few mates from work. love the sunset and view from there at night.

nice going. opt for heavier leader if your live baiting like that. i fish with 30lb braid also but with 50lb mono leader. gives you more of a beefer buffer.

I have upgraded now to 60lb nylon leader with 4/0 hook.

Let that fishy bring it on..............

Great place to be when the sun is going down. Post card pictures of sunset. The changing colours of the sky as the sun sets is magic...........pinks, blues and purples
Just got to love the tropics

Happy fishing mate

Kev,
Must have missed you Friday, went down and fished where I saw you last time but didn't see you there. Got a couple of runs but missed (on mullet strips). Nothing on lure. Will have to try again next friday when I am back in.
Bad luck Noodlemantra, better luck next time. Will have to catch up for a lure sesson somewhere.
