View Full Version : Nerang Rvr 24/08/06
Fished the nerang with plastics today for 20-21 bream and a lone flathead (undersized) all of the bream were legal with the biggest going 34cm to the fork, I was trying the 1lb fireline with a 3lb flurocarbon leader and was quite impressed with it, even pulled a few good bream from under pontoons and boats with it, the 34cm one was also caught on the 1lb but was out in the open so I had no cause for alarm. Most of our fish came early and we worked hard for 5-6 fish after 8:30am, was off the water at midday. The fish were caught on a combo of gulps in shrimp (all colours), fry, crawfish and turtle back worms.
Cheers Ian
Sounds like a nice session Ian, nice bit of a pre-fish for Sundays Social comp.

Mick,
JT and I know a good Gold Coast based welder that works for a fair rate, and isn't afraid to weld near an inbuilt fuel tank! I know this as I have just had him repair a split weld in my keel. There is nothing wose than chasing a leak in your boat!
PM me if you want further details.
Marty
Chubby, was fish out of a boat.

Good work Ian. Unfortunately I can't make it down there Sunday, but are looking at having a flick at Raby bay over the weekend.
Getting prepared for another Wivenhoe bash next Sunday - last electric comp there was a real eye opener, with some good fish caught.
Cheers,
Marcel.

Toppy,
No I didn't go out, I had to work. Someone has to work to support his fishing habit. ;D ;D Saving myself for when we finally get back to Darwin (hopefully next year) where there isn't as much boat traffic. ;)

Paul, Have fished Cobourg but camped at black point and mainly fished port essington, The fishing at Endyalgout Island and the Mini Mini system is supposed to be outstanding, all the barra, salmon, jacks ect in the Mini Mini system and then GTs, queenies, mackrel around the island and the reefs. Take plenty of sunscreen and bushmans for the trip and I know this sounds bad but go easy on the grog and drink plenty of water. ;D If you need any more info let me know. Have a look at a North Australia Fish Finder, page 148, should be one in a news agent near you, has some good info on the area.
Cheers Ian
PS ref her tea-- she has 2 good legs and arms and knows where the kitchen is ;D ;D ;D
